... welcoming coconut! I have a feeling a lime in a coconut would be a rather refreshing drink on this isle, just so long as Caribbean rum is somewhere in the mix. If not, we do have a qualified Nurse on board.

Hello there Mr Crusoe! You cheeky bugger! I feel quite violated . Dearest qni... I don't like to see anyone cry on this Island. When the Quiet Night Inn becomes available again, I will take a look to refresh my [bad] memory and see how the boards compare. I will stretch my brain for creative ideas and make suggestions so this Baby Isle evolves into something unique from QNI. I hope to help.

I'm not really crying, just feeling used and spat out! You are cute though. ;D We'll have to find a way that you're not feeling used and spat out, how's that? Everything can be fixed, you know. Now that you're a member, if you ever have any suggestions that will make the Desert Island unique, I'm most certain the Beak would be more than willing to consider!

I think the whole point is that the ideas that originated on QQR and QNI should be what makes them original, not the desert island! So when I have ideas, where would they, should they go.....

Then no probs, Sweetie. I'll have a look when (and if) QNI comes back up and see what the similarities are. Perhaps Desert Island Discussion here can continue to have a musical theme in a unique way from your ideas. I hope to be able to have a comparison look because I'm quite curious.

The Desert Island is a fine idea for a dedicated board that will attract many R4 listeners who enjoy DID. We have had limited discussion of that program on QQR and perhaps a link from the DID thread on the Broadcast board to here might be a good idea. As our revamp progresses, we may find a more prominent way to advertise your board.

Why do you need to see QNI to see the simiilarities.
Let's see, there's:
Moans and groans and thoughtful debate and science and society and a little bit o' politics .
Culture -The painted word, the silver screen and all things arty, crafty and received on the steam wireless (oh, OK, and the telly, then).
There's a music board. There's an arts and crafts section. And then the games section.
That's not too difficult to see where all that came from. But yes, directly copied from QNI, as the mod here says.
Surely no one could be so naive as to not see the similarities?

See my personal text - a quote from Crusoe, who is unashamed to acknowledge his sources....but not gentlemanly enough to ask .

I think the similarities are a given! Maybe a good "offshoot of" to continue on with the idea... ... to which credit was given. IMVHO.

Maybe a good "offshoot of" to continue on with the idea... The idea is continuing at it's original url! ... to which credit was given. IMVHO. Splutter! I beg to differ point out, it was proudly proclaimed as a 'rip-off'. Which can't really be seen as 'giving credit', more as .....whatever the term rip-off conjures for you, if you are at the sharp end of it .

Hang on, that's not the point is it!
Credit may well be given but the fact remains two blokes with supposedly decent manners, or so I've been led to believe, ripped off another board without asking.
THAT is NOT ok.
And no 'smiley' emoticons will make it ok either.
