Ahoy there, Sportyscouse. How wonderful to see you about these parts. Any (well, nearly) Scouseperson is welcome, Sportys. Any sign of Driftwood? Flotsam and Jetsam float off ship, thrown off ship, awash on sandy warm shore. Here.

Driftwoood is parrot sitting for me at the moment. I'm not due to 'phone him for a few days but I shall notify him of the co-ordinates of this delightful isle in case he floats this way.

Do we have telephonetic communication here? I was going to suggest the usual 1st Class 2nd Class, a bottle and favourable tide is all you need.

Delighted to hear it, SportyS. All Driftwoods welcome, I'm sure. BTW, what's the parrot's name? No need to answer if this infringes the Personal Parrot Privacy Violation Act or whatever it's called these days. (not that the parrot would know, unless you withdrew cuttlefish rights)

(not that the parrot would know, unless you withdrew cuttlefish rights) Parrot ostensibly called George MacDonald, but I have a strange feeling that when I prise him away from his temporary landlord, he may well answer to other things....all of which would be automodded!

I'm reading you. Just don't have anything to say at the moment. "A companionable silence", but that's not much use on a message board.

Ahoy there, Hermann Toothrot. WELCOME
I do hope that your name suggests that you’ve brought lots of sweets with you: the island is very small and so I’m sure you’d be happy to share.

Welcome to the board, Hermann! A little something for you, a gift set of toothpastes. Kills two birds with one stone, really. You can enjoy the taste of dinner and brush your teeth at the same time. What an invention...

I liked them -- BC Hilliam and Malcolm McEachern. Who? Flotsam & Jetsam - very popular duo. Hilliam played piano and had a rather high tenor voice (Flotsam) and McEachern had an enormous basso profundo (Jetsam) Surely you've heard the saga of "Little Betty Bouncer", who loved an announcer, down at the BBC? Or "Is He An Aussie, Is He, Lizzie?" No? You haven't lived...

OHMYGOD I LOVE THAT SONG[/i] and have the lyrics too! Little Miss Bouncer loves an announcer down at the BBC. She doesn't know his name, But how she rejoices, When she hears that voice of voices.Absolutely tireless, Sitting at the wireless, Poor little Miss B. It's the man who announces, With a lot of passion in it, "The Daventry shipping forecast will follow in a minute".Little Miss Bouncer loves an announcer down at the BBC.
