Day I
The crew have been ashore for several weeks now whilst I carry out restorations on the ship. Capt. has already found a plentiful food supply and shows signs of promise. A possibility of promotion to Vice Admiral but already there are a few signs of dissent and misbehaviour as the heat doth affect the head. Had to prevent the Nurse from drinking the seawater. It sends a bad example to the crew. Already a few signs of scurvy and had to scold Capt. for hogging the meagre water supplies. Shows little concern for the crew or the environs and is content to sleep on his hammock for most of the day.
Will keep a close eye on him although his advice and reports on the crew are well judged and I have no plans to replace his leadership.
Day 2
Make rare visit ashore for food supplies
Day 3
Found a new species of butterfly to adorn the wondrous collection. Will carefully pin and encase it before the end of twilight; the supply of candles needs to be carefully rationed.
Day 4
The supply of Rum is under lock and key. Gave Jim the Cabin boy strict instructions to keep a sharp eye on and to keep a close account of precise number of barrels.
Day 5
Signs of dissent are increasing. Advised one member of the crew that giving out orders whilst necessary on board is ill advised ashore in these special circumstances. Informed her to seek my advice in future
Day 6 Informed one and hopefully the only transgressor, that Man nor Woman is an Island in him or herself.
Day 7 One of the Natives, a Polynesian woman of great beauty, doth please the eye of some of the crew causing a certain amount of jealousy in some quarters. I dismissed the complaints and told the crew to enjoy their stay here and make it a happy one. Pooka the maidservant has been commendable in keeping spirits high.
This may be invaluable in months to come.
Carried out more repairs.
