I listened because I know my father likes her. I'm sure she would be fascinating to talk to, but Ms Lawley and/or the contraints of the program didn't make her sparkle for me.

Ms Lawley and/or the contraints of the program didn't make her sparkle for me. I agree with you Tiger Lil'. Ms. Lawley’s phoney upper-class accent drives me insane at times. How can you come from Dudley and end up speaking like that? Thought the ‘interview’ was naff. I’m glad she had several affairs after rejection at such an early age. I think loads of women of that period must have believed in romantic love. Hope the sense of failure has now left her. For some strange reason I don’t recall hearing this the first time around. Anyway, I liked her loads and some good musical selections…….but why did they cut off Kathleen Ferrier so quickly?

I liked her loads and some good musical selections…….but why did they cut off Kathleen Ferrier so quickly? I quite agree, Billy. She really seemed to have been full of joie de vivre and, although many of the musical choices weren’t really my cup of tea (undoubtedly the Big Bill Broonzy was my favourite), the variety of choices was pleasing and she did seem to convey a real love of the music she had chosen. The Kathleen Ferrier did seem to get cut off very abruptly which was made more disappointing when the closing theme seemed to go on for considerably longer than it often does.

Hello, all! Don't know how long I can stay - PC is playing up and shuts itself off unexpectedly. Nobody seems to have missed me Anyway, back to the subject: I realised that I'd heard the programme before when she told the tale of reporting her first kiss to her mother, who popped her bubble by asking "Did he mess you about?" Sounded like something out of the Mitfords. Tsk. Agree about the shamefulness of shutting off Kathleen Ferrier too soon. There are some choices which would be improved by that treatment, of course

Nobody seems to have missed me I have and just emailed (via two tin cans held together with string) a mutual friend, expressing concern at you PC problems. P.S. No one missed me when I vanished from the R4 boards. In fact I think they all cheered. Sincerely, Very sensitive Billy.

Please don't fret and please don't be silly I regret that they seem rather chilly See, I blare and I cheer When you're there or you're here Ne'er forget that you're quite cherished, Billy. Sorry, stuck in the limerick mood.
Oh, and apologies, Diana...

It is in the nature of yachts to sometimes pass in the night.

Hello, all! Don't know how long I can stay - PC is playing up and shuts itself off unexpectedly. Nobody seems to have missed me As ever, Sea Horse has put it perfectly . Doesn't one just have to accept yachts go cruising go on a cruise now and again? Oops!Doesn't mean you weren't missed. I have to admit that I’d thought, as it’s the M***** D****** season, that you were gallivanting about the place enjoying yourself. I hope that your nice computerman gets the PC working properly soon.
