I’ve never been a great fan (in relation to her broadcasts) of Prof. Jardine, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the presentations during her tenure as speaker on A point of View.
Last Friday’s broadcast was first-class and really was spoken from the heart. The sad music played in Tales From the South China Seas kept playing inside my head as I listened. I think it was the broken dreams of her talented post-doctoral student who’d become a teacher that induced this music.
Prof. Jardine sounded as though she’d really enjoyed that seminar with her young (post doc.?) students and it was good to hear a senior academic deriving so much pleasure from listening to the vernal enthusiasm of her young students.
Highly recommended and I will join in with the discussion if anyone else heard it.

Thanks for the tip-off, Lawrence. I have missed many of these “A Point of View” programmes (they are on at an awkward time) but I have found the views of all of their contributors fascinating, when I have listened.
I have heard some of Prof Jardine’s previous broadcasts and found some of them thought-provoking so I will try to make a point of listening.
