Can we dispense with the pyjamas if we wear a very long tie, please miss? As the wonderful Betty Boothroyd used to say: Order! Order! Here's the Dress Code. If in doubt consult Crusoe: Tie: Shell necklace: Wellyboots: and pajamas: I think that settles it.

I do beg to differ. Although, if nothing else, they make good coffee though... dem de "perks". Who do? The only man who needs a tie is one with a hole in his shirt. Well, you need holes in your shirt if you have buttons. Perhaps your shirts do not have buttons? You could always claim to wear T-shirts, I suppose. Still, how do you fit your head through?

Here: Cat's really hate hats, don't they? That's why they're such fun to impose... But maybe he was talking about 'on pets'...? At least, I'd agree it's so much fun to IMPOSE hats on pets. You'd agree, Nursie. I used to dress up my cats when I was young too, and take their pictures... he he he.

My mistake... sorry Cap'n. He said CATS hate hats. But do they like rats? Or would they chase gnats If they weren't spoiled brats? Sorry, blame Dr. Suess.

The feline disapproval radiates from those images! "Get miaowt of this!" Well, cats can't laugh, can they? They're not the worst pets though. Had to "pet" some daughter of friends' Guinea Pig the other day. All this thing did was sit in a cage/box thing, eat, and sh*t. It seemed to me. When the charming wee owner let it out for a run, the House Dog ate it. There was a funeral, of course. Rabbits are also unsatisfactory pets by same token. Ditto stick insects. Spiders now, they actually DO something.

Those are all well and good but we mustn’t forget one of these:- or else Person Friday’s Coconut Castaway Club might not let us in for breakfast and then where would we be? Speaking of which: A fleeing Taliban, desperate for water, was plodding through the Afghanistan desert when he saw something far off in the distance. Hoping to find water, he walked toward the object, only to find a little old Jewish man sitting at a card table with neckties laid out on it. The Arab asked, "My thirst is killing me. Do you have water?"The Jewish man replied, "I have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only $150. This one goes very nicely with your robes." The Arab shouted, "Idiot! I do not need an overpriced tie. I need water!""OK," said the old Jew, "it does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie. I will show you that you have not offended me. If you walk over that hill to the east for about two miles, you will find a lovely restaurant. Go! Walk that way! The restaurant has all the water you need!" The Arab staggered away toward the hill and eventually disappeared. Four hours later the Arab came crawling back to where the Jewish man was sitting at his table. The Jew said, "I told you, about two miles over that hill. Could you not find it?" "I found it all right," rasped the Arab. "Your brother won't let me in without a tie!"
