I’ve looked up one of Mr. Jones’s references and having just struggled through ‘Weekend Woman’s Hour’, have to say that I agree completely with Mr. Kershaw’s views. Today’s edition played an extract from ‘Coronation Street’ where Rosie was forced to take the morning after pill. So who did WEW/hour interview about this issue, but two very posh women from the south of England!!! Did anyone here the way one of them kept saying: ‘no no no’? I ask you, where do they get these people from? We then heard the mandatory birth-related issue. How many times have we heard the shortage of midwives discussed on WH…..five, six, seven times in the last three years? Perhaps WH should be asking why 28% of the recent additional National Insurance levy has been spent on making already very wealthy doctors and other medical staff even wealthier? No wonder the NHS is experiencing a £600m deficit.
Why can’t Mr. Damazer understand that Ms. Kearney’s broadcasting style might suit the residents of Cheam, but is highly irritating to listeners living outside this wealthy area. If Mr. Damazer wants to earn some respect amongst R4 listeners, then get rid of this nauseating anachronistic and geographically localised programme.
