What delightful hats, Nursie. And don't all those women look happy! It would be pleasant to conclude that delightful hat = happy person. However, cake notwithstanding.

I live opposite the close leading to the parish church. The millinery I see when people are getting married is a constant source of wonder and delight... whoever thought they looked anything other than ludicrous in those hats?
I have noticed that very few UK actors in period, e.g., 1930s or 1940s drama, look as though they are wearing their own hats - and the anachronistic haircuts don't help. Somehow, American actors manage to do this... strange.
I haven't owned a titfer since about 1965.

. . . . MR. SMEDS AND MR. SPATS . . . .
Mr. Spats Had twenty-one hats And none of them Were the same. And Mr. Smeds Had twenty-one heads And only one hat to his name. | Now, when Mr. Smeds Met Mr. Spats, They talked of the Buying and selling of hats. And Mr. Spats Bought Mr. Smeds' hat! Did you ever hear anything Crazier than that?

Now that's comedy! Old rotten-hat! I think this is a nice piece of art. Doesn’t look much like a hat, though.

Hats for Crusoe: Hmm, you think a hat called “floppy swinger” is appropriate, do you. Thanks a lot, Nursie. Obviously this is more my style, just don’t take the pith:-

LOL Crusoe! I can't quite see what you're wearing here so keyed in floppy hat and got that, but had more in mind something very floppy indeed like this: Did you make it from this? Here's the idea
