You will note that you can say bugger, bugger, bugger to your heart's content here.
Why is that?
In the UK that kind of malarky used to get you jailed. I believe it's still illegal to bugger a woman....especially if she says no thank you.
It's almost as though it is deemed a term of endearment on the other side of the pond, as in, 'you silly old bugger'. That's fine by me, but what if I favour, 'you silly roger' and don't happen to be speaking to Roger at the time?

I'd say it sounds like a term of endearment when used in that sense, unless of course you are speaking to a woman who may more on the 'uptight' side...
Then you must be a bit wary and try to determine how much the term would bother her. Or perhaps your aim would be to bugger.

Did you know -- In some Asian language (and please forgive my ignorance of exactly 'which'), the word "cr*p" is used as a listening response, like we use on the telephone, meaning something equivalent to our word "yes...". Likewise, in the same language, the word "he" supposedly means something so rude, referring to a woman, that even Automod would not have programmed into its listing. Well, just be careful if you're traveling to the Orient anytime soon.  |
