Reading through today’s papers concerning Delphi’s appeal to it’s former parent company, GM, for a $6 billion loan to avoid bankruptcy makes it clear that the US economy is in a far from healthy state. There’s an excellent story on Bloomberg if anyone is interested. Yet again, financing pensions for former employees is central to the problem.
I’m surprised that R4 hasn’t covered the decline of some of these US Leviathans (include Delta and Northwest Airlines here) in programmes such as The Archive Hour.
