I was thrilled to bits when I heard on Feedback that Pick of The Pops was going to be binned by R2. However, I was puzzled when I heard letters of complaint in subsequent editions of Feedback. In fact it’s most depressing to see the programme back on the air. Doesn’t a record lose its appeal once it’s been played 8 million times? From my own perspective, Pick of The Pops was always about the broadcasting brilliance of Alan Freeman. Anyone else explain the current attraction?
