Thought this programme was excellent and like many of the participants had never heard about these disgraceful secret plague tests. Loved the reference to ‘steam trawler’ and how wonderful to hear a skipper speaking about calling out on 2182Khz.
The issue that struck me, though, was the abrupt manner in which the programme terminated. Did anyone else notice this? I was wondering how much of it had to be edited.

I heard a snippet of this on “Pick of the Week” and I wish I’d listened to it. It’s interesting what you say about the ending – I often get the feeling with Radio 4 programmes that the makers have run out of time and just finished it in a hurry. It’s frustrating that such interesting programmes could be so much better with just a little more input. Some of this may be due to the pressure to provide weekly programmes, so perhaps there is a case for a wider variety of factual programme “strands”.
