I don't sleep nearly enough either. When i do it is a restless tossing and turning and filled with confusing indecipherable dreams. I hate it, my husb can just lay down and instantly sleep like a log, me? I get to sit in the dark wishing I was asleep ;D

For insomnia, attempting to sleep is counter-productive. You should attempt to stay awake. I sleep all right - I just need a cure for a noisy, late-coming-home, partying teenager.

Doesn't a judiciously applied thick ear work these days?
If the original question was about Tiger Lil's not dreaming, I'm pretty sure she does dream, but doesn't remember it. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Sometime, I don't wanna...

It was more about dreaming of an island paradise...I don't, but obviously I do dream and occasionally I remember them.
Usually those are the disturbing ones!

Do dreams mean anything, or is it just the brain rearranging stuff accumulated during the day? If the latter, why did I have two recurrent dreams for years and Years and YEARS? I got sick to death of the driving-too-fast in a strange car with some basic malfunction (e.g., no brakes, no gears). Eventually I got a big powerful car and practised driving faster than hitherto. Dreams stopped. My other recurrent dream is still on-going. I get fed up with it and am glad to wake up. My OH claims never to dream, which is rubbish, of course. If he ain't dreaming, what's all that shouting going on all night long then, eh? Bl**dy boring too, what he shouts.

It depends on when you wake up in the sleep cycle. I suppose if you're troubled by the dream, it might cause you to wake at the same point and so perpetuate the idea that you are being troubled by the same dream over and over. Something may happen in your life that breaks the cycle, you sleep soundly, forget the dream and then attribute cause and effect.
I don't think they mean anything, as such. It's random thought.

(I have also read another book about a real life desert island castaway - An Island To Myself, can't remember the author). Not my idea of paradise, I'm afraid. Too much work involved. ;D

Not my idea of paradise, I'm afraid. Too much work involved. ;D Very true, Moonbeam. That’s why I can never understand these back to basics types who would have us believe that all modern innovations are the work of the devil and that we should all go back to some imagined age of simplicity.

I hate it, my husb can just lay down and instantly sleep like a log, me? I get to sit in the dark wishing I was asleep ;D Nuthin sleeps better than a log. Unless it's the Admirals Log and that never sleeps. Logs are important, if you ever see one of those 'Survivor' programmes that I personally don't watch but I occasionally use them to put me into a deep coma - try it, it works! - you'll find that all they talk about are bloody LOGS. I'm serious, the man who collects the logs and makes the fire is the main man - the Big Boss Man. So in essence everyone on a desert island is equal, but if you can make a fire you become more equal than the rest. And I ain't got no matches and I'm certainly NOT collecting any stray logs so you can be Boss for the week, Duchy. My Log
