Manderley does ring a bell now, though. So does Quasimodo.

Crumbs! I have lived in the Du Maurier country (Fowey, Boddinick etc., in Cornwall) but can't say her books ever reached out and said 'read me!' Manderley does ring a bell now, though. Let me know how you get on with the book, it's great Oh, are you into campanology (too)? Reminds me of summer Sundays somehow

That's a fine set of clappers you have there, nurse. Thanks, Vice-Admiral. They are clappering away more than I expected them to, fwiw. Oh, is Vice better or worse than Rear? (head scratchy thing)

Oh, are you into campanology (too)? Nothing camp about me, Duckie! No Grandsire Triples or Bob Major on my poop deck.... Actually my last girl-friend took it up after she moved away from here - unfortunately she injured herself and had to retire hurt...it can be quite dangerous I understand!

Nothing camp about me, Duckie! Duckie, is it? No one's called me Duckie for years. But just for you I'll file it under "terms of address - inscrutable" which reminds me of someone I once knew. Does a Captain's girl-friend rank similarly with a Colonel's Lady? And why does Mrs. O'Grady spring to mind when I type that? Sorry to hear about the injury. Back, was it? Bothersome things, bells backs
