It's about time we started putting in our suggestions for the next series. As we know, our ideas are always listened to.
We could also have a bet on this: choose the bleeding obvious, who is going to get repeated, person least likely.
Bleeding obvious: Freddie Flintoff.
Who's going to get repeated: Robin Cook (assuming he's already been on)
Person least likely: Crusoe, or Dr Jones.
Most people I can think of have already been on either DID or Private Passions.
OK, my vote: Roy Dommett, renowned morris scholar and rocket scientist.

Yes, I remember RC being on: I had more respect for him after the broadcast than before.
Andrew Flintoff would make an excellent guest, I think (it is always disappointing if your heroes don’t impress but he normally seems articulate and affable, when interviewed).
It would be good to hear Ivor Cutler, as well, although he’s another who may have been on already. If he was, perhaps he’d have (had) a recording of 4’33”.
I think that you can join the list of least likely, Lux, which is a pity, 'cause I'd like to hear yours and Dr. Jones's choices.

I doubt that he has been on DID - far too curious a person. If he did have a recording of 4'33", one can bet one's bottom dollar that They would spoil things by playing only the 33".

Geoffrey Boycott - does anyone know whether he's been on?
Having heard him say today "I fancy Freddie Flintoff. I really fancy him" I wonder whether he chose anything by Tom Robinson?

He did say that! And no-one said a thing, not even laughed. Perhaps they didn't dare, in case he gave them a black eye (allegedly).

There must have been some muffled chuckling going on...

You'd have thought so. I'd have expected to hear chairs falling over as they rushed to leave the room and guffaw in the corridor ... but no.
Perhaps it will be on "Pick of the Week". I do hope so.

I do admire your optimism, Lux. It was good to hear lots of cricket did get picked by Peter White on his POTW, even if we didn’t get Geoff Boycott’s comments.

Thinking further about who it would be good to hear on DIDs, a few more thoughts (I’m not sure if any of them have been on but I don’t recall them):-
Ian McMillan Richard Thompson Linda Smith Mark E Smith (that would be fun – to see how he responded to Sue’s questioning) Michael Frayn Prof Laurie Taylor Ritchie Benaud

I've heard Mr Thompson interviewed on radio a few times and he's very talkative and amusing, though I imagine* there would be the usual questions about Fairport/Sandy Denny/ the crash/the breakup with Linda/ the time in the Sufi commune - i.e. the old days. His music choices would certainly be interesting - I believe he's fond of Shostakovich, so that's his classical track sorted for a start. Not sure Mark E Smith would entertain the idea at all, even if it occurred to them to ask him; and if he did, whether the result would be considered broadcastable. Michael Frayn certainly ought to have been on, if he hasn't. I'd like to hear Prof Laurie Taylor too, if only to hear whether he keeps his promise to remain totally silent when Sue says "Thank you, Professor Laurie Taylor, for letting us hear your Desert Island Discs." *sorry - forgot that word's banned
