I don't like the word "smarmy". It sounds too much like "smegma" to me... It just sounds disgusting. There's something about the voiceless alveolar fricative paired with all those nasals; it simply doesn't sound right.
I also don't like the word "impass", not because of the way it sounds, but because of what it means. I find it very discouraging.
